Voices in my head. ***I hear sewing people***

17 Aug

Twenty four seams, each 29 or so inches long (times 3), on the bias, on wiggly, uncooperative organza.  To press or not to press?  The voices in my head of over 300,000 members at the Pattern Review message boards pretty overwhelmingly say to press everything.  Period.

Here is a before shot:

And here is an after:

And this does not count the 16 panels of flounce – oh – make that 24 also.  I can’t remember if the RTW gowns I have snooped have theirs pressed or not, but my guess is not.  Ballroom is all about style over substance. Smoke and mirrors, folks, smoke and mirrors!

I am thinking I will not be pressing these.

Here is my sweat shop set up:

Those of you who live in properly hot places will think we are pretty lame to complain about low – mid 30’s ( mid – high 80’s) temps, but trust me, to us it is HOT!

You can see my Genie (she is smart enough to stay in the shade, at least) and one Kenmore hiding out there, with my serger and fabulous Eaton Viking which are the most frequently used machines in the “shop.”  The cover stitch is to the left.  Oh – and one abandoned Birkenstock!  Gotta have a bare foot to control the foot pedal:-)

The little set of drawers is on wheels and usually sits to the right of the Viking.  The wheels make it easy to change the configuration of the machines and support tables.  if the wheels weren’t clogged with thread and dust and serger tails, it would be even easier!
